BUSTED: John Freeman arrested for stealing $300k from WYSA
A former treasurer of a North Texas youth soccer organization has been arrested and charged after allegedly embezzling "hundreds of thousands" of dollars from the group’s account without permission, according to authorities.

The Wylie Police Department reported that 37-year-old John Freeman, a resident of Midlothian, was arrested on May 12 and charged with theft of property valued over $300,000.

Police say the investigation began on January 27, when the Wylie Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) noticed unusual activity in its QuickBooks account. This prompted a full audit of financial records spanning from October 2019 to August 2024.

According to investigators, the audit uncovered hundreds of unauthorized transactions totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Following their review, police obtained a warrant for Freeman’s arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Wylie Jail.
